The main function of lead tin bronze products are to improve machinability. They are known for their resistance towards corrosion and abrasion and their long service life. Common applications include connectors for wire and cable, electrical plug-type connectors, doorknobs, screws and nuts, bushings for corrosion, rolling mill bearings etc. The lead content in these bronze alloys is between 7 percent and 15 percent. High leaded tin bronzes alloys are free cutting and retain favorable thermal conductivity and good lubricity due to the lead content. Alloy C93200 is considered this family’s workhorse alloy and is widely used in many bearing applications.
- These products possess relatively high ductility.
- Containing more than 13% of tin, have significant amount of brittle δ-phase.
- Ductility of these Tin Bronzes is very low.
- Lead is added to the alloys (Leaded Tin Bronzes) for improvement their machinability and increasing pressure tightness. Mechanical strength and ductility of the Leaded Tin Bronzes is lower than those of Tin Bronzes.
- Lead Tin Bronzes are used as sliding bearing materials. High content of lead, dispersed as separate phase throughout copper-tin matrix, imparts anti-friction properties to the alloy.
All our Lead Tin Bronze Products are used in various Industries, Shipping, Valve.
